A family owned company, rooted in the local community with extensive experience gained over generations in the production of rooibos and buchu products.
As both growers and processors of their own produce, Skimmelberg can ensure highest standards in the entire production process, and as such take pride in the outstanding quality of their products.
Skimmelberg firmly believes in biodiversity-friendly farming methods, and are actively promoting sustainable best practice. Skimmelberg has adopted environmentally friendly farming and production practices, working in harmony with nature by making use of its natural resources. An example of such practices is the use of organic liquid fertilizer, known as compost tea, made on our farms in the process of vermicomposting; another is the use of carbon-neutral fuel in our essential oil distillation plant.
As a result Skimmelberg have gained certification of the organic products from CERES, an independent certification organization representing the highest international standards for nature-friendly products.
Cape Moondance
Another family owned company.
The late Ronel Terblanche - the founder and owner of Cape Moondance - has been using pure buchu leaf for the past 25 years. The never ending search for quality buchu as well as the time it took to brew and strain the leaves, gave her the idea to produce the first 100% pure buchu teabags in South Africa and probably the world.
The Cape Moondance packaging was designed to reflect the vibrant colours and subtle nuances of the South African soil.

Sceletia was born in 2010 in Plettenberg Bay, not far from the Tsitsikama mountains and the Langkloof where they source their Honeybush. Partly-bred in Plettenberg Bay until 2012 Sceletia then set up headquarters in Stellenbosch in 2013 where it has been based since.
The Honeybush is (sustainably) wild-harvested (thus completely organic) in the Tsitsikama mountains near Kareedouw and Joubertina in the Langkloof, South-Eastern Cape. It is processed(cut, fermented, dried and sieved) by an organic and HACCP-approved processor in the Langkloof and mixed (with small quantities of Sceletium, a succulent growing in the Klein Karoo and Namaqualand)
SOiL was born out of a family managed, organic essential oil farming operation in Zululand, Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa.
It is here that they have been growing and distilling aromatic plants for their precious oils since 2001. As an eco-ethical range certified by ECO-Cert , SOiL was the first company in South Africa to sell a complete range of 100% certified organic essential oils, many of which they grow themselves on their organic farm in Zululand.
As they continue to grow their range and expand their business they never lose sight of the fact that their customers’ needs come first, which is why the quality of the product and service, the authenticity of the brand and the strong sense of commitment to their ecological and social ethics remain their key focus.
The way SOiL are able to maintain these strong social and ethical guidelines is by closely managing their product through manufacturing, packaging and distributing directly from the farm, thereby encouraging local economic growth, creating employment and utilising local, renewable resources.
They are unique in that they farm, process and market their own products. By owning most of that supply chain they are able to control and understand what determines the quality of their products.
ETHICS :
NO ANIMAL TESTING EVER
PURITY: With no petrochemicals, no parabens, no synthetic fragrances or colorants.
SOiL products are packaged in recyclable biodegradable glass
ORGANIC CERTIFICATION AND INGREDIENTS
As your guarantee of the products integrity, the ingredients used in the products help you without harming the environment. SOiL products are certified organic by ECOCERT, France.
In South Africa there are no laws regulating the use of the word “organic” on skincare labels and there are many products on the market which claim to be organic. The reality is that unless a product is certified you cannot be sure whether it is truly organic. SOiL's organic certification is issued by an independent third party (ECOCERT), who on an annual basis inspects farming and processing facilities to ensure they meet strict organic requirements and remain truly organic; rather than just saying it.
SOiL is not merely a brand of essential oils. They don’t just buy in bulk and repackage for retail, they actually farm many of the plants they use and distil the oils on their organic farm in Zululand, South Africa. They understand essential oils intimately and know what determines quality and demand the same quality from the other organic farmers who supply them.
